Many website builders offer site migration services to move your entire site over to its servers. There’s no denying that Shopify is one of the best website builders for selling physical products, whether you’re shipping items yourself or dropshipping. One thing I couldn’t do on Shopify is sell subscriptions without using an app from Shopify’s marketplace, which costs extra to that third-party seller. Once upon a time, I wasn’t able to sell online courses through Shopify, but that’s an available feature now.

Squarespace’s platform empowers entrepreneurs, artists and others to design and develop professional websites. Creators can choose from a wide range of website templates, designer fonts and color palettes, so they can build a site that matches their brand. Squarespace also grants business owners access to email campaigns and social media tools.

The logo's Medium Turquoise color adds a unique touch to the website design, visible as the background color for multiple CTA buttons. Several screenshot images of AD products stand out in a centralized three-column layout just above the Contact section. I love how the Kurly Creative website highlights its unified website design by creatively reusing colors, typography, line designs, and shapes.

From Squarespace

As far as praise goes, Shopify users say the platform is easy to use and offers good support when needed. All of the paid plans come with built-in shopping carts and marketing features to help you sell online. If you don’t mind paying, there are dozens of premium templates available, but they cost about $100 on average. HostGator’s templates are generic but customizable, so you can change the look of your website to make it unique. In regards to the actual website builder, I’d say HostGator fashioned its app like other built-in website builders that web hosts use.

These were then weighted to favor features that small business owners find valuable in a website builder. Most site builders will have a variety of free and premium themes to choose from. Using these can help you get a well-designed site up and running much faster than if you were to build the site from scratch yourself. Be sure to preview all your pages to make sure there are no inconsistencies or errors as you add your content. Most modern site builders are mobile-responsive, but even those that are may not be 100% perfect.

Add visual interest

If you have some tech know-how and you want a customized website with web hosting of your choosing, then WordPress is good for you—whether you want an info-only site or an online store. Using WordPress without any plugins is difficult if you have no experience building websites. I prefer to use it with Elementor, a plugin that gives you a drag-and-drop site editor. Zyro seems like a good fit for first-time website creators that don’t plan to add a lot of content. Zyro offers a tool that allows you to import an existing website to its platform. It’ll pull in the content from the site to its site builder, so you can essentially plug the content into a new design quickly and easily.

Custom Website Design Services

Its team includes web designers who are proficient in various platforms, including Shopify and WordPress. The agency also runs paid advertising campaigns to help clients target new buyers and retarget previous website visitors. Joel Mehler, its co-founder, holds a bachelor's degree in communication and media studies. Boost Local comprises creative and technical teams working together to build websites that reflect the branding requirements of Los Angeles clients. The agency's web design process includes site audits, identifying enhancements in performance, content quality, and online visibility.

What is front-end web development?

We love to share information so contact us anytime to discuss your project interest. A web design company provides design and development services to individuals and businesses. ThreeSixtyEight is a creative agency that rejects marketing cliches and seeks to impact the business bottom line through clear content, design, and communications. TRIXMEDIA offers branding services to help your business grow in a changing world.

The drag-and-drop interface allows you to move elements or resize them, although you don’t get as much control as you do with Wix. As you might expect, you can embed items from other Google apps, such as Google Calendar, Google Forms, and Google Maps. In any case, the WordPress software works similarly whether you host your own site or let WordPress.com handle it, and you can import and export your data if you need to change hosting services. Adding pages, customizing background colors, and inserting components is straightforward, though different from other sites’ drag-and-drop approach. When you click on any section of a page, the customization options all appear in a panel on the left—rather than directly next to or above the item.

Zyro’s low-priced plan costs $2.99 per month if you choose a four-year contract, but you have to pay that total upfront. The month-to-month plan is standard for the industry at $11.99 per month, but it comes with a $4.99 setup fee, which makes it more expensive for the first month than most of Zyro’s competitors. Although I liked building a site with Zyro, I didn’t get a chance to try all the features because I kept running into reloading errors and some sections didn’t load to begin with (more on that below). The only thing that I was disappointed to see was that I couldn’t swap themes and keep my content. Honestly, I expected Wix to have changed this feature to keep up with competitors that allow you to switch website templates any time.

"The Owl House" Hooty's Moving Hassle TV Episode 2020

hooty owl house

Lilith is apparently the first person to openly insult him for his flaws, as he was deeply hurt upon hearing it. Nevertheless, he defends her from the fire bees, which results in her coming to respect the house demon. He begins calling her Lulu for short while she in turn nicknames him "Hootcifer" (a play on Lucifer). Due to Hooty being practically omnipresent all the time, he mostly finds himself interacting with Eda, King and Luz (and later Lilith) every waking hour of the day. Hooty does not seem to realize that everyone is put off by his behavior as no one has the gumption to tell him this. He seems to view Eda as an almost maternal like figure as she is usually the one that initiates the need to care for him.

Powers and abilities

In "Adventures in the Elements", King refused to let him into his boot camp, causing Hooty to play "hard to get" when King comes to him for help later. Because of his station in life, being bound to the house, most of his activities and hobbies involve talking, telling riddles, listening to music, and rolling around in the mud. Luz then tells Amity that even though her life is hectic right now, and she doesn't know what will happen next, she wants Amity to be part of her future. Luz then builds up the courage to say the next thing, but Amity gets too excited and high-strung and hurriedly, though inadvertently, asks her out first. Luz is slightly disappointed and embarrassed that she built up the courage for nothing, prompting Amity to quickly apologize and allow her to speak awkwardly.

Luz then apologizes to Amity for this, saying that it was Hooty's stupid idea, but Amity despondently replies that she is leaving, saying that the idea of them dating was stupid. He starts crying hysterically and desperately tries to leave the Owl House, putting it at danger of collapsing. At the end of the episode, Luz ends up confessing her feelings to Amity and asks her out, which Amity excitedly accepts. In "Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door", he cries and pulls himself away every time when he thinks he failed to help King, Eda, and Luz with any of their problems.

Friends / Allies

Hooty manages to free himself from the Owl House and starts dragging along the ground, causing earthquakes. Eda and King try to convince Hooty that he did help them in his weird way, but he is too upset to listen, saying that despite their claims, he has still failed Luz. Eda and King then ask Luz what Hooty tried to do for her, to which she confesses that he was trying to help her ask Amity out. Eda encourages her to do it, but Luz points out that Hooty's breakdown is ruining the moment.

Whether he actually returns the sentiment is not known, though Eda does care a great deal for the roof over head. Hooty treats Luz and King almost like siblings and will sometimes team up with the latter over various schemes as they share similar wants and needs. He actually gets along well with Luz, though she too can sometimes find him disturbing. In "Agony of a Witch", Hooty was able to recognize that Luz was sad and calmed down for once to comfort her.

Eda Clawthorne

Amity notices a banner saying what Luz feels about her and, though embarrassed, is flattered. Humiliated and worried that she will get made fun of again, Luz desperately destroys everything, unknowingly hurting Amity's feelings and making her think Luz is rejecting her. Still, to her dismay, a heartbroken Amity despondently replies that she will leave, waving around the idea of them dating before dismissing it as stupid.

Powers / Skills

Most who visit the Owl House in the series are very disturbed by his strange appearance and "annoying voice". Hooty, for the most part, does not play directly into the plot of the series, though he has had a significant amount of moments where he aids the heroes in one way or another. Some of his more notable entries are when Luz, Willow and Gus all decided to hold a moon conjuring inside of him and accidentally uprooted him from the ground; revealing that he does possess a pair of bird legs underneath. He mostly puts himself out there to annoy or intrude on other people's privacy and loves to annoy those that his residents have had some quarrel with such as Lilith and Amity, though in the latter's case it did not end well for him. He was also there to comfort Luz after Eda succumbed to her curse and was taken by the Emperor's Coven. Hooty has not interacted much with Luz ever since she began living at the Owl House, although their relationship is shown to be marginally better than that shared with either Eda or King.

Voice

Hooty and the rest of the gang later watch Belos's announcement as he unmasks himself and announces the impending Day of Unity. At the castle, Lilith and Hooty go off exploring the castle and after finding a mural of a King-like figure, realise that if even the best historians never discovered this island, then King really could've been an undocumented King of Demons. While King assures the trio the golems are harmless, one arrives and starts attacking but Eda manages to arrive in the nick of time and hold it off while they escape. Hooty makes a minor appearance in "Lost in Language", offering to share his experiences last night which everyone rejects. He's also mentioned by Eda in "Once Upon a Swap" as she proclaims that whoever manages to prove their life is easiest gets out of house cleaning duties, with Hooty rolling around in mud at that time.

However, Luz ends of destroying the ride believing Amity is too cool for this, but indirectly hurting Amity's feelings believing she's not into her. Hooty tries to leave and believes he screw up, but King and Eda tell him that he actually helps them, King can unleash a sonic scream and Eda and can turn into a harpy woman thanks to the Owl beast. Hooty resembles the head of an owl with a small beak, a golden brown crown, a light brown face and dark brown eyes. One of the most volatile relationships so far, Amity has shown nothing but hostility to Hooty since they first met during "Enchanting Grom Fright". For butting in on her conversations and invading her personal space, making her extremely annoyed, she has physically assaulted the enchanted doorknocker, resulting in Hooty having to wear an eye-patch and several bandages on.

Later on, after Eda, King and Luz return home, the former decides to celebrate with drawing faces on Hooty, causing Lilith to promise him she'll protect him. During "Adventures in the Elements", Hooty offers to join King's 'boot camp' while Eda and Luz are away training, which he refuses. However, after King's animated plushies rebel against him, he's forced to enlist the help of Hooty who, after playing hard-to-get, eventually agrees when King draws him a body and rips the toys to smithereens, horrifying King. Later when the duo return home, they walk in on King congratulating Hooty for his bravery, with the ceremony abruptly stopping due to the mood being ruined.

His overall appearance is similar to a barn owl, as in "Hooty's Moving Hassle", his legs can be seen underneath the house. His anatomy has a peculiar nature, as in "Echoes of the Past" which suggests he is at least partially an organic creature when separating himself from the door reveals veins and organs spilling from the gap. "O Titan, Where Art Thou" later reveals he has several rows of teeth inside his mouth running down to his stomach, along with a second "head" that is obscured at the back of his mouth.

In Understanding Willow, Gus Porter did seem to find him more interesting than either Eda or King, but quickly became victim to Hooty's eccentric ramblings while interviewing him. Nevertheless, Eda mentioned in Agony of a Witch that while Hooty can be annoying sometimes, he still has a place in her heart. In the same episode, Eda reminded Luz to feed Hooty before turning into the owl beast, suggesting that she secretly cares about Hooty. He hears Luz talking to the echo mouse, asking it if it can help her ask out a certain "cotton-candy-haired goddess" if it's not going to tell her more about Philip Wittebane. Realizing that she is torn between finding a way home and pursuing love, Hooty concludes that she cannot make any progress if her attention is split, so he tries to help Luz open up to Amity by setting the two of them up on a date.

However, during the scuffle King knocks Tarak's disguise off, with the other Trappers unmasking themselves and showing their true colours. Bill arrives and excitedly declares that he will receive most of the glory once they sacrifice King, confusing the Trappers as they were promised equal rewards when the Huntsman was released. Hooty and Luz quickly question Bill's honesty, but he quickly brushes it off as the duo lying and the Trappers continue pursuit. Luz, Hooty and King reach the portal, sending them back to the island, where King destroys the finger with his yell and Hooty protects them from the debris. With this adventure concluded, King is shaken and asks to go home, which Luz and Hooty agree to. During the events of "Hooty's Moving Hassle", Luz and her friends Gus and Willow hold a moonlight conjuring in an attempt to one-up Amity, aiming to animate a small action figure.

Amity and Luz are nearly squashed by a piece of falling debris but King destroys it with his sonic yell. He and Eda try to console Hooty by telling him that he did help them but Hooty still bemoans he didn't help Luz. Fortunately, Eda encourages Luz to pick up the courage to ask Amity out and, dragging Hooty away, gives the two girls space and allows them to advance their relationship. With Hooty sated and his friends helped, Hooty returns to his role as the Owl House's guardian, though he has to promise that he'll never "help" anyone again.

Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door

During the body swap, King (in Luz's body) prank calls Hooty and puts the phone in a megaphone, forcing the whole marketplace to hear his irritating voice. Later on after the trio come to understand each others' lives, Luz tries to suggest a team effort in cleaning Hooty which Eda and King quickly turn down, leaving Luz to do the job. In "Something Ventured, Someone Framed" Hooty greets Gus as he leaves the Owl House, scaring him. Later, as Eda discusses her fears for Luz joining Hexside, Hooty remarks that he turned out just fine after she taught him (which he obviously isn't), causing Eda to change her mind and enrol Luz in magic school.

Foreign voice actors

Hooty later accompanies Luz and King to listen to Eda's story in "Them's The Breaks, Kid". In "Eclipse Lake", Hooty helps to guard the Owl House while Eda, King and Luz's friends take care of her after she contracts the common mold. Later on in "Yesterday's Lie", using Amity's glove stained with blood from the portal key, Luz creates a makeshift portal leading to the In-Between Realm that Eda, King and Hooty pull her out of as it destabilises. In "Follies at the Coven Day Parade", Hooty and King help out in Luz and Eda's plan to help Kikimora go home and for Eda to find Raine. The duo operate a float of Belos that they use to release offensive fireworks and smoke to distract the Coven Scouts, allowing Luz to "kidnap" Kikimora and Eda to go meet up with Raine while the duo flee from the effigy. This turns out to be for nothing however, as Raine pushes away Eda in order to keep her safe and Kikimora forsakes her family reunion for a promotion.

Early life

In "Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door", Hooty tries to help King figure out what kind of demon he is. Unfortunately, the result ends up inconclusive, so Hooty tells King that he and Tinella Nosa doesn't need to know that to be his friends. He becomes increasingly frustrated at his dad's absence, and shouts in anger, inadvertently unlocking his new voice powers. However, Hooty is too upset to notice that and pulls away in tears, not hearing King calling after him. At the end of the episode, a stranger asks Hooty to deliver a letter to King for him, but Hooty accidentally swallows the letter along with a bug he saw crawling on it.

Hooty is somewhat lacking in social awareness as well thanks to doing unnerving and annoying things to people such as spending hours talking to a fly or barfing up owl pellets, causing King to remark that Hooty seems desperate for attention. This remark does seem to be true to an extent as even when defending the Owl House, Hooty still displays a large amount of talkativeness as he holds a tea party with defeated Coven Scouts in "Agony of a Witch". Hooty also seems to be slightly sadistic, hooting with glee as he's commanded by King to stop the plush toy insurrection, mauling them to a point even King is horrified. When he also remarks that Luz running out for help in the boiling rain would be funny, King is also unamused and simply slams the door back.

Powers and abilities

Hooty is dismayed at his best friend leaving, so Lilith assures him that they can be pen pals. During the events of "Separate Tides", Hooty attempts to warm up to Lilith as she spends her days with the Owl House gang, to no avail. One day, while Luz and King go off on a bounty hunt and Eda finds new ways to earn cash, Lilith decides to make a scrying potion for the gang to spy on the Emperor's Coven as a way of proving her allegiance. Hooty sadly slinks away while Lilith reattempts her heist but realises she truly needs help and calls out. Hooty quickly arrives and declares no witch to be an island before helping Lilith fend off the bees and obtain the honey as well as the other ingredients. Later on Lilith apologises for her abrasiveness to Hooty and admits she struggles at finding help for herself, to which he also apologises for being nosy.

hooty owl house

Using the leftover Titan blood as fuel, King and Eda successfully rescue the duo, but Hunter is severely traumatised by what he saw in the emperor's mind and flees into the woods, fearing Belos's retribution. During "Echoes of the Past", Hooty accompanies Lilith as she studies glyphs and when King throws a stuffed toy at her for tripping over his "army", he takes the hit and dramatically plays dead in her arms. After hours of flight they arrive at the jungle island housing the castle which only King seems to know about. Hooty's background is extremely cryptic, with his only memories of his birth being that the sky was red and that there was a hunt. He has an unnamed mother who he's apparently very protective of and an evil twin called "Booty".

Luz too is visibly shaken by her experience, but by the time of "Edge of the World", she musters the courage to reveal her findings. As such, he's planned a massive Draining Spell under the guise of the Day of Unity, sapping the life force of all coven members and killing them off. Luz feels extremely guilty for showing Philip the light glyph and helping him meet the spell's creator, the Collector when she time travelled in "Elsewhere and Elsewhen", causing her to tear up and cry. Hooty and King hug her to comfort her while Eda asks of Luz to hid from the Emperor's Coven, which she refuses to do so as she wishes to atone for her mistakes. Lilith, having been filled in on the details arrives, exciting Hooty so much he pukes up a pile of trash.

On the way to the post box, Hooty runs into a mysterious King-like figure, who asks him to deliver a letter to the young demon. Hooty accepts but accidentally eats it after seeing a bug crawling on it, causing him to dismiss it as junk mail. At the start of the second season, Hooty expressed interest in being best friends with Lilith. Initially, Lilith was put off by him, but when he helped her gather ingredients for a scrying potion by fighting with fire bees, they started to get along to the point Lilith gave him a nickname. Later, Hooty would accompany Luz, King, and Lilith to an island where King came from and then learned King is not the king of demons as he claimed but was found by Eda. The group then left the island with Jean-Luc who was protecting King the whole time.

In "Eclipse Lake", Hooty's relationship with Willow and Gus improves as they work together to take care of Luz when she gets sick with the Common Mold. Hooty explaining the history and physiology of demons to King in "Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door". Hooty standing up after Luz, Willow, and Gus accidentally animated the entire house. In "Watching and Dreaming", when Luz meets the Titan in the In Between Realm, something which resembles Hooty can be seen in his right eye. While it is not revealed whether that was Hooty or not, this at least implies that he used to be part of the Titan's eye.

Amity also mentions that house demons begin to exhibit Hooty's odd behaviour when they're a few thousand years old, which could mean that he is in fact that ancient. At some point, Eda met Hooty and settled in as his tenant near a tower that used to be owned by her father Dell, naming the residence the Owl House. She later brings home King as a pet 8 years prior to the series, though after realising his sentience becomes a surrogate mother and roommate to him. When Lilith begins living in the Owl House, Hooty makes it his goal to befriend her, despite previously beating her up in the pre-mentioned episode to defend Eda. It is possible that he displays sympathy, hence his desire to befriend her and make her feel like she is part of the family.

After overhearing Luz's desire to ask Amity out, Hooty devises a plan to motivate the human. He creates a cheesy tunnel of love and kidnaps Amity, leaving a note for Luz to head to the basement. Hooty then opens a trapdoor when the duo accidentally steps onto it, and the girls fall down a pit, landing in front of the tunnel of love. While Amity is impressed, Luz freaks out and destroys the decorations, not wanting Amity to believe that she is weird.

Hooty later comments that his actions that night would haunt him forever before cheerily hooting. He arrives and barfs up mail for Eda to read, causing her to realise the carnival's in town. As such, while the rest of the cast go off to the carnival, Hooty gets distracted by a fly and chats with it for the entire duration of the episode while they're away, accidentally eating it when they come back. In "Understanding Willow", while Amity and Luz restore Willow's memories, Gus decides to hold a competition between Eda and King to see which one to interview. However, he soon determines that as they're equally interesting, Hooty as their home must be the cause of their eccentricity and goes to interview him.

Sure enough, Gus soon regrets this as Hooty's irritating voice and meaningless rambling drive him away. During "Enchanting Grom Fright", Hooty invades Amity's personal space as he greets her, annoying her as she goes upstairs to help Luz train to fight Grom. Later on as Luz and Amity have a personal discussion Hooty barges in and pokes Amity's eye, enraging her so much as she viciously assaults him, forcing him to wear an eyepatch and multiple bandages for the rest of the episode. He tries to break away from the Owl House, believing everyone would be better off without him. Since he is part of the house, his desperation to break away from it puts the house in danger of collapsing. A falling stone nearly crushes Luz and Amity, but King saves them with his new ultrasonic scream powers.

Understanding group sequential designs GroupSeq

sequential design

This study adopted a coding process by Adu [49]; however, for reliability, it followed the seven-stage Framework Method by Gale et al. [50], as shown in Table 3. It follows that the intercoder reliability method described and recommended by Freelon [51], Neuendorf [52], Mayring [53], Krippendorff [44] and Hayashi et al. [48], amongst others, was adopted in this study. Everitt and Skrondal [54] and Krippendorff [55] describe the inter-rater agreement as to the coordination level between multiple investigators, assessors, or empirical evaluations. This approach was selected to ensure that sources of errors in coded interview data were eliminated or minimised. The common complexity of mixed methods design poses a problem to the above typologies of mixed methods research.

5. Results from the Statistical Analysis

That diffraction can assume a broadening of integration due to the fracturing of data that could occur in the research process and distort the object of study [28], presenting in the social sciences a way of capturing the complexity intrinsic to the ontology of the social entity being studied. This paper provides guidelines for using the exploratory sequential approach in mixed-method research to effectively deal with contextual issues based on non-parametric modelling data in top leadership H&S interventions. The main focus was established by extensively providing elements that demonstrated rigour in a qualitative and quantitative study in a mixed-method environment and by distinctly placing a sequential study into the relevant context for this type of research.

1. PHASE 1: Qualitative Analysis (Diagnosis)

It was characterised by non-probability purposive sampling to establish a theory based on the conceptual model and hypothesis. The second phase, QUAN, comprised the pilot stage of the survey study, where non-probability convenience sampling was applied to 10% of the target sample as a pilot study to establish the tool’s validity. The third stage, characterised by random probability sampling, used the developed survey questionnaire to gather perspectives on top leadership commitment to H&S by applying QUAN. Typological and interactive approaches to mixed methods research have been presented as mutually exclusive alternatives. The interactive approach of Maxwell is a very powerful tool for conducting research, yet this approach is not specific to mixed methods research.

Lifespan Development

This paper considered the target population as the top leaders of the construction organisations in South Africa at all nine levels of the CIDB. The contextualism approach to philosophy is reinforced by the national culture and construction industry for this typology. The description of conceptual restrictions by Babbie [27], which range between Meta (South Africa), Macro (Construction sector), Meso (Top organisational leadership) and Micro (Leadership commitment), is applied consistently in the typology [26]. Similarly, the relationship between work, health or educational and occupational strategies has already been studied in Argentina by Gallart and in Spain by Valisachis de Gialdino [22,23].

To apply the O’Brien-Fleming design more aggressively, one could plan the first stage analysis at a later time point. For example, having the first interim analysis after 70% of the samples already means that about 1.5% of alpha are spent at stage 1. The fullness of the interview questions established the preliminary interview validity and whether the intended group was attained [44].

Accordingly, all interview questions are based on a conceptual typology proposed by Gogo and Musonda [26], which depicts how each leadership aspect relates to each respondent’s H&S aptitude for each contextual determinant. This allows the researcher to examine how the model depicts leadership commitment related to H&S in its full context by accurately representing the respondent [39]. The background knowledge was derived from the literature review’s output and synthesised into eight hypotheses, forming a typology.

The scientific literature shows the scarce use of mixed methods for solving problems of social phenomena. It has all of the benefits of cross-sectional and longitudinal studies, but it can be a very steep investment of one's time, energy, and resources. Longitudinal studies involve observing a single group multiple times over a period of time.

Methods

sequential design

The process to achieve this is the conception of prospective thinking, strategic action, and ownership to model pessimistic and optimistic scenarios to facilitate decision-making, with the generation of valuable frameworks and alternative actions chosen according to the researcher’s expertise [43]. Thus, the present study aims to design a predictive model about a complex social phenomenon’s different behaviours through fuzzy inference modules. To this end, we start with an exploratory analysis of trends and, additionally, we resort to the generation of synthetic data (Monte Carlo simulation) to determine possible futures (futuribles) based on the analysis of actors and scenarios (see Figure 4).

The exploratory sequential technique is distinct from the explanatory sequential technique because it explores a concept before validating it, allowing for greater versatility in discovering novel ideas offered by the QUAL approach [2]. Numerous projects characterised by novel instrument creation choose this method as it enables the scholar to construct the instrument using QUAL information and afterwards verify it quantitatively [1,3]. This is undertaken to handle the complexities of the resultant model characteristics because the contextual setting of top leadership is uncertain of the H&S culture’s consequences. Hence, it is advisable to perform validation or tests on the QUAN part of the model [3,5]. Triangulation increases confidence, overcomes the reductionism of approaches, and, if there are congruencies in the conclusions, confers the results’ reliability and validity [4]. A convergent model can be considered when researchers need to use qualitative and quantitative data concurrently to compare results.

For example, if after our 10-year-long study on aging we found that people with darker skin appeared to age better, then we can go back and examine the exact amounts of melanin in their skin. Another option is cross-sectional design, defined as sampled groups along a developmental path in an experiment to determine how development influences a research variable. Instead of taking one group of people and following them for 60 years, we take 4 groups of people and study them now. Our first group is all 20-year-olds, the second group is 40-year-olds, and so on. This saves us time because we can do all the research now instead of over 60 years. Cross-sequential designs are a good way to observe multiple groups over time, such as men and women.

The group is then observed a second time after the treatment is administered to see if the variable of interest can be linked to any significant effects. It's common for longitudinal studies to include several observations over long periods of time. A rigorous approach for designing an exploratory, sequential research method using both interviews and survey data was created in this work. The tool’s novelty was established in its point of departure from the norm in applying reliability tools prior to testing for normality and applying a rigorous process of multi-tool intercoder reliability, which also adopted a web-based tool to augment the spreadsheet calculations. Using generalised linear modelling in a study of this kind also signifies a point of departure from the norm. According to Bajpai [9], the tool used to gather data must be dependable and repetitive to be useful.

Applying both QUAL and QUAL approaches to single research works offers a more significant opportunity to establish more insight into the study subject, whilst a higher degree of validity and accuracy are achieved compared to applying a single approach [10,11]. In addition to the six primary design dimensions or considerations, we provided a set of additional or secondary dimensions/considerations or questions to ask when constructing a mixed methods study design. Our purpose throughout this article has been to show what factors must be considered to design a high quality mixed methods research study. The more one knows and thinks about the primary and secondary dimensions of mixed methods design the better equipped one will be to pursue mixed methods research. The fifth design dimension is that of typological vs. interactive design approaches.

Anne Rice opens up about her return to New Orleans, her supernatural writing roots

anne rice house new orleans

Rice's alluring antihero, Lestat, is among New Orleans' favorite fictional archetypes, right up there with Stanley Kowalski and Ignatius J. Reilly. Her tomb, on Lake Lawn's oak-lined Avenue Bell, stands amid other ornate burial chambers bearing real-life Crescent City icons with names such as Fertel, Schwegmann and Besthoff. At the end of the block lies Al Copeland, founder of the Popeyes Fried Chicken chain, with whom she once famously feuded. The day before the funeral, three Rice fans arrived at the 150-year-old cemetery to behold her crypt.

But at one point, she herself gave up vampires, saying she wanted to focus on religion. Rice said on CBS in 2006, "I went back to the Catholic Church after 30 years of being an atheist. And I realized that I wanted to write just about Jesus Christ." That home is located at 3711 St Charles Avenue and Anne lived at the property for 15 years. Moving in in 1989 and only leaving in 2004 when, according to velvetropes.com, she relocated to California to be closer to her son. Anne’s previously mentioned New Orleans home, Rosegate Mansion sits at 1239 First Street in New Orleans and, as we know, features heavily in the Mayfair Witches book series with much of the action taking place there. Thanks once again to the production crew, we know that the exterior shots of the mansion were indeed filmed at the house.

The “Schitt’s Creek” mansion in Toronto is for sale (again). But you’d need Rose family money to afford it

The home at 3711 St. Charles Avenue features several restored stained glass windows, including this one in a wide stairwell. But that’s not all – the tour also includes a stop at the Mayfair set house used in the TV adaptation of Anne Rice’s books. You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the locations that brought her stories to life.

Four first-floor columns frame out the front porch, supporting a second-floor gallery that boasts its own quartet of columns. She credits the haunted history of New Orleans for her fascination with all things supernatural, but it's about more than just ghost stories. "To me, vampires ... witches ... werewolves are great metaphors for us -- for the outcast in each of us," she said.

Peek Inside Anne Rice's Former New Orleans Mansion

As a sort of pop culture exorcism, the novelist resided in the old mansion for years and never claimed to see Pamela’s ghost during the 15 years she spent in Rosegate House. Built in 1857 for a “nouveau riche” family by architects, the imposing mansion is one of those neoclassical hodgepodges that borrow a bit from every architectural style. Its Greek revival colonnades, Italianate flourishes, and a hexagonal window all mix with surprising elegance that matches the other luxury estates of the Gardens District.

That included a unique concave mansard roof, as well as a mass of arched windows, copper gutters and a two-story, plantation-style front porch. The prolific “Vampire Chronicles” author lives on as one of the great writers in a city filled with them, her legacy every bit as immortal as the vampire Lestat. The home at 3711 St. Charles Avenue offers five bedrooms, but it's the master bedroom that features this expansive, well-lit closet. The home at 3711 St. Charles Avenue features a study on the first floor, the entirety of which benefits from 14-foot-tall ceilings. Upstairs, you’ll find the massive master suite and en-suite, which features a gorgeous mashup of marble, crown molding, and a cozy fireplace to stay warm when you’re soaking in the bath or enjoying a shower. Elsewhere in the sizable home is the bonus room that comes with its own kitchenette, home theater, and bathroom.

But if there’s one building that embodies Rice and her work, it’s the old St. Elizabeth’s Orphanage building at 1314 Napoleon Ave., where she lived, worked and threw lavish parties while at the peak of her storytelling powers in the 1990s and early 2000s. The mansion is one of Rice's "earlier homes," of which she bought several in New Orleans, according to listing agent Eleanor Farnsworth, who noted Rice did pen some of her novels while living there. The home at 3711 St. Charles Avenue features several restored stained glass windows and doors. Among other things, the author used the neo-classical structure to house her expansive, melancholic collection of handmade dolls. Join us on this unique and exclusive tour as we delve into the life and works of one of the greatest American authors of the 20th century. You’ll explore the charming streets and grand houses of the Garden District, where Anne Rice grew up and found inspiration for her iconic characters. Those who tune into Mayfair Witches on AMC, an adaptation of Anne Rice’s Lives of the Mayfair Witches novels, will be treated to views of a gorgeous historic home in New Orleans.

She fostered the dark imaginations of so many throughout the years and helped create the modern vampires in fiction that we see today. Despite being long dead, people still occasionally report sightings of the pair to this day. To add a touch of mystery to this legend, both bodies of the brothers mysteriously vanished from their family’s funeral vault long ago. The kitchen is slightly more contemporary than much of the first floor, featuring updated cabinetry, recessed lighting, and stainless-steel appliances. The wall of glass doorways and windows that overlook the backyard provides plenty of natural lighting and creates a warm, inviting space overall. While most of the home has been kept the same, there have been a few pretty nice upgrades to the residence that help it stay functional in the present day.

In one of her novels, Lestat had famously gazed at his image in a window at that address, and Rice felt the glitzy décor of the restaurant was therefore inappropriate for the locale. Through the 1980s, Rice became the world's queen of Goth literature, earning an army of devoted followers. “Interview with the Vampire” and the subsequent film adaptation starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise forever changed the popular image of vampires from unknowable monsters to self-aware, psychologically complex characters.

There is a wealth of local real-life New Orleans buildings visited by the characters of her dozens of novels. The home, built in the 1880s and designed by William Fitzner, still features its original millwork, which makes for ornate detailing throughout. Some of its stained glass has been restored, while other pieces contemporary have been installed in its latest renovation. Fourteen-foot ceilings are throughout on the first floor, and 12-foot ceilings are found upstairs.

The mansion at 1239 First Street is commonly known as The Rosegate House because of the rosette pattern of its fence. It’s widely considered to be one of the most canonic examples of how New Orleans’s past morphed in American pop culture. She joined her lifelong love and late husband, poet Stan Rice, at the Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans, LA on Jan 15, 2022. After a convincing friend and former schoolmate, Ginny Mathis, to join her in San Francisco, the pair moved in together and both attended the University of San Francisco – a men’s Jesuit school that offered night courses for women.

Subsequent owners Reuben “Buzz” Harper and Les Wisinger extensively renovated the home — and hosted the PRC’s 2002 Holiday Home Tour Patron Party before selling to Nicolas Cage in 2004. Still, current owners Heidi and James Dugan found that the home needed yet another round of renovations when they purchased the home in 2011. Although they initially planned for minor updates, the Dugans ultimately undertook a one-year project with extensive structural improvements due to widespread damage inflicted upon the home by a falling chimney. The front door of the stately mansion opens into a great room, which was once the site of the chapel. The grand staircase in the middle of the room now occupies the location of the chapel’s altar.

With a dwindling student population, the nuns in 1989 took the remaining 30 or so students of what was then a boarding school and moved to a new facility in Marrero, leaving the massive old orphanage vacant. Seven years later, work began on another, identical wing on the building’s Perrier Street side. That gave the building its U-shape and created a central courtyard said to be popular among orphanages of the day. On the same property, the nuns built a small wooden building to house a branch of their St. Elizabeth’s School, a “house of industry” formed to teach older girls the domestic trades and named after the daughter of one of their benefactors.

Designed in 1856 by famed architect Henry Howard for the wealthy coffee importer Henry T. Daily Lonsdale, the Greek-Italianate Revival mansion occupies three lots on the prominent corner of Prytania and Third Streets. The tallest building in the Garden District at the time, it was nicknamed the “skyscraper.” Once completed, Mr. Lonsdale sold the home to Nelson McStea and noted decorator, the former Abigail Slark, parents of the first Queen of Momus. A 1925 article in The Item Tribune advertises an auction of the home’s artwork, rugs, and fine European antiques, noting that the McSteas spent well over $100,000 to decorate the home the family occupied for three generations.

This realization was the inspiration behind Teresa’s book Black Flora, an ode to African American floral farmers and designers published earlier this year. Black Flora profiles 22 floral entrepreneurs, most of whom use flowers as a vehicle for empowerment on the path to healing. “A lot of the people that I interviewed for the book came to flowers from loss, changes in situation, divorce, and trauma. Or, as I like to say, the flowers came to them, and helped them create something beautiful,” Teresa explains. The large saucer shaped flowers can reach about 4 inches across (10 cm) and they will start blossoming in mid summer, from the bottom of the spike, and keep going up and up for about two months.

— Look at nursery tags and choose plants that are listed as drought-tolerant or water-wise. — Get your plants into the ground in late fall to early spring, so the roots have a chance to settle in before the temperatures get too hot. — Train the roots to grow deep instead of spreading out along the surface. That means watering them deeply once a week, so the soil gets wet many inches into the ground, instead of several short and shallow watering sessions that force roots to grow laterally closer to the surface looking for moisture.

The strangely named black sage (Salvia mellifera) actually has fragrant feathery green leaves and stalks of white flowers with violet edges. This hybrid comes from Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, one of the state’s premiere native plant gardens, as a cross between black sage and Sonoma sage (Salvia sonomensis). Black sage varieties are longer-lived than their cousin woolly bluecurls (Trichostema lanatum), so named because its bright purple flowers have a charming furry quality. Woolly bluecurls plants tend to live only a few years, while black sage seems to thrive in dry, sunny and even rocky terrain. David Bryant, the campaigns and engagement manager for the California Native Plant Society, waxes rhapsodic about the way black sage varieties enhance vanilla flavor. He uses food writer Melissa Clark’s ice cream recipe and wraps 20 or so black sage leaves in cheesecloth to steep in the egg-cream-sugar mixture overnight before removing the leaves and freezing the ice cream.
